This qualitative study examines the impact of the generation gap on college student's academic performance and social dynamics. The generation gap, defined as differences in values, beliefs, and experiences between parents and children, significantly affects college life. Through criterion sampling, participants were selected based on their experiences with familial expectations and academic challenges. Guided by ecological systems theory, semi-structured interviews revealed key themes: parental dominance, negative parent-child relationships, and parent versus culture. Findings highlight generational clashes over technology use and communication styles, with older generations favouring traditional methods and younger generations preferring digital and collaborative approaches. The study also underscores the significant role of parenting styles, socioeconomic status, and parental involvement in academic success. Addressing the generation gap is crucial for improving educational effectiveness and fostering positive intergenerational relationships in higher education.
