Beyond the Books: Exploring the Influence of Education on Women's Empowerment in Sports

This study explores the transformative impact of education on women's sports participation in Malakand Division, Pakistan, and addresses a critical gap in the global literature by delving into local contexts. Employing a phenomenological research design, the study includes diverse participants—female students, athletes, educators, and community stakeholders—across different educational levels and socio-economic backgrounds. A purposive sampling method ensures a comprehensive representation of experiences, with a total sample size of 60. Semi structured interviews and focus group discussions serve as primary data collection tools, rigorously tested for reliability and validity. Ethical considerations prioritise informed consent, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity. Thematic analysis of transcripts reveals education's multifaceted role in empowering women in sports, breaking stereotypes, fostering wellbeing, and promoting teamwork. The findings highlight the interconnectedness among education, women's sports empowerment, challenging norms, and building confidence. Beyond academic boundaries, education equips women with skills for athletic pursuits, fostering leadership and providing infrastructure. The study provides valuable insights for local stakeholders, offering pathways to tailor initiatives that support female athletes in Malakand Division. In conclusion, education emerges as a catalyst for societal progress, fostering an inclusive sports culture and empowering women who defy expectations. The study's policy implications call for comprehensive educational reforms, gender-inclusive programs, state-of the-art infrastructure, recognition initiatives, and community engagement to create an inclusive and empowered society in Malakand Division, Pakistan.
